Nine quick checks of how the iPad behaves, before we build the real app. Work down from the top; it takes about ten minutes. Nothing is saved or sent anywhere.
In Safari tap Share, then Add to Home Screen, then open Sages Students from the icon.
If you see "Open as Web App", leave it switched on. Do the other checks from the icon too.
Tap Start, then open SLS (card 2) and stay there for more than a minute. Tap Done to come back.
In the real app this clock will run on the server, so closing the app or changing the iPad's clock won't add time.
Tap the button once.
An iPad plays no sound until someone taps, so the real app will only play sounds after a tap. No sound? Turn the volume up and check silent mode is off.
Take a photo of anything. The page shrinks it to at most 1500 px on the long side, as the real app will before uploading.
Nothing is uploaded anywhere.
Tap the button. It starts a 30-second alarm and opens SLS at the same time. Stay inside SLS and keep it open for at least 45 seconds.
Start 30-second alarm and open SLSDo this one from the Home Screen icon (card 1), with the volume up and silent mode off. You may hear "Alarm set" as SLS opens.
While SLS was still open, did you hear the chime or the voice?
Why this matters: if the page can make noise from behind SLS, the real app can nag "Time's up" until the child taps Done, and the teacher hears it too.
Each test opens SLS, waits 20 seconds, then tries one trick to make SLS go away. Stay inside SLS and do not tap Done. If SLS disappears by itself within about 25 seconds, the trick works. Run them one at a time.
Opens SLS as a new window, then tells that window to close.
Opens SLS as a new window, then sends that window to our own orange "Time's up" page.
Opens SLS in a window with a name, then opens our "Time's up" page under the same name.
Opens SLS like card 2, then reloads this page underneath it.
Test D: open SLS, then reload this pageFor each test you ran: did SLS go away by itself?
If none of these works, the only true forced closes are Apple's own: a native app, or Screen Time's time limit on the SLS address.
